OIT currently offers the following system resources for research use:
- Web serving - Apache, Php and CGI running a Sun V240 server.
- Database serving - Postgresql and MySQL on Sun V240 server.
- Compute servers - a wide array of research software running on two v40z Sun servers with quad AMD Opteron processors
- Linux cluster - Parallel processing software running on 10 IBM eServer 325 and 7 Sun v20z servers with dual AMD Opteron processors
- Geospatial server - MapServer, Postgresql/PostGIS and ArcIMS running on a Dell 2650 with dual Intel Xeon processors
- High speed storage on our storage area network
- data back-ups and retrieval
ARC is working with the PSU research community to strengthen our research computing capabilities and in expand to meet growing needs. This includes growing needs in high-end computing, geospatial serving, mass-storage and open source database managements systems.
